When you have children, but want a beautiful dining table, the solution is to make a table that can handle the abuse bound to happen during mealtime.
For this build we utilized Jatoba lumber. This is a type of Brazilian cherry that is very hard. (2,690 lbf) twice as hard as Maple and almost 3 times harder than Cherry.
The table is made of solid 1” thick jatoba and features: 2 removable leaves, equalizer slides, Dutchman inlays and a high gloss conversion varnish finish.
The end result was a durable, flexible and beautiful table that can last generations.
